Question:

The largest possible cube is made from a wooden sphere of radius $6\sqrt{3}$. cm Find the surface area of the cube.

Options:

864 cm2

542 cm2

735 cm2

625 cm2

Correct Answer:

864 cm2

Explanation:

diameter of sphere = distance between two diagonally opposite corners of cube

$12\sqrt{3}=5\sqrt{3}$

(S → side of cube)

so = S = 12 cm

Total surface area = $6s^2$

$=864cm^2$
