| The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana has been merged with the National Food Security Act in Dec 2022. The ration under the Act will be given to the beneficiaries free of cost till Dec 2023. Under the Act, originally, rice was to be provided at ₹ 3 a kg, wheat at ₹ 2, millet at Re 1 — each up to 5 kg per person. The move to now make ration free under the Act will cost the government ₹ 2 lakh crore for a year. |
