In a half wave rectification circuit, if the frequency of input signal is 60 Hz, the frequency of the output signal will be
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 2
The correct answer is Option (2) → 60 Hz
A diode conducts only when it is forward biased. In a half-wave rectifier this happens during one half of each input cycle; during the other half the diode is reverse biased and the output is zero. So the output is a series of pulses, one pulse for every input cycle, and the pulses repeat exactly as often as the input cycles do.
\( \displaystyle f_{\mathrm{out}} = f_{\mathrm{in}} = 60\,\mathrm{Hz} \)
