Lenz’s law of the electromagnetic induction is in accordance with the law of conservation of
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 2
The correct answer is Option (2) → energy
Lenz’s law says the induced current flows in the direction that opposes the change producing it. So when a magnet is pushed towards a coil, the coil repels it, and work must be done against this opposition. That mechanical work is exactly what appears as electrical energy in the circuit.
If the induced current aided the change instead, the magnet would speed up by itself and energy would be created from nothing. So Lenz’s law is a consequence of the conservation of energy.

NCERT (2026-27):
Lenz’s Law and Conservation of Energy – “… The statement of the law is: The polarity of induced emf is such that it tends to produce a current which opposes the change in magnetic flux that produced it.”
Lenz’s Law and Conservation of Energy – “… A little reflection on this matter should convince us on the correctness of Lenz’s law. … If this can happen, one could construct a perpetual-motion machine by a suitable arrangement. This violates the law of conservation of energy and hence can not happen.”
