Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 2
The correct answer is Option (2) → Calicut
Abdur Razzaq Samarqandi, a diplomat who came from Herat, wrote a travelogue in the 1440s that mixes very different feelings. He did not like what he saw in the port of Calicut (present-day Kozhikode) in Kerala. Its people were, in his words, “a people the likes of whom I had never imagined”, and he described them as “a strange nation”. Later, near Mangalore, he saw a temple that filled him with admiration, and his account is also one of the most important descriptions of Vijayanagara in the fifteenth century.
