Question:

In an election between 2 candidates, 60 % voters cast their votes out of which 5% votes declare invalid. A candidate got 30% of the total votes and won by 300 votes. Find the total no. of voters in the list.

Options:

12000

9500

100

10000

Correct Answer:

10000

Explanation:

Lat the total voters = 100

Cast votes= 100 × 60% = 0

Invalid votes = 60 × 5% = 3

Valid votes = 60 - 3 = 57

Now, ATQ

Winner gets = 100 × 30% = 30

So looser gets = Valid votes - winner votes

                       = 57 - 30 = 27

Winner won by = 30 - 27 = 03 votes,

3R = 300

1R = 100

Total voters in the list was= 100 × 100 = 10000
