Question:

G is the centroid of the triangle ABC, where AB, BC and CA are 5 cm, 12 cm and 13 cm respectively, then BG is?

Options:

4\(\frac{1}{3}\) cm

6\(\frac{2}{3}\) cm

8\(\frac{1}{3}\) cm

9\(\frac{5}{3}\) cm

Correct Answer:

4\(\frac{1}{3}\) cm

Explanation:

G is centroid, therefore BD is median and BD = \(\frac{AC}{2}\)

BG : GD = 2 : 1,

BD = \(\frac{13}{2}\)

BG = \(\frac{13}{2}\) × \(\frac{2}{3}\)= 4\(\frac{1}{3}\) cm
