The Neolithic period in India occurred from around 6,000/4,000 BCE to 2,000 BCE. It is also called the New Stone Age. It witnessed significant developments in agriculture and the domestication of plants and animals. Communities began practising settled farming and started cultivating crops such as wheat, barley, rice, and lentils. Pottery-making, weaving, and the use of polished stone tools became prevalent during this period.
