A man can row at 6 kmph in still water. If the velocity of current is 2 kmph and it takes him 3 hour to row to a place and come back, how far is the place? 

8 km

Speed of boat in still water = 6 km/hr

Speed of current = 2 km/hr

Speed of boat in downstream = 6 + 2 = 8 km/hr

Speed of boat in upstream = 6 - 2 = 4 km/hr

Let the distance b/w two points = x

Time = \(\frac{Distance}{Speed}\)

ATQ,

\(\frac{x}{8}\) + \(\frac{x}{4}\) = 3 hrs

\(\frac{x + 2x }{8}\) = 3 hrs

3x = 24

x = 8 km
