Question:

The cost of tiling the floor of a rectangular room is ₹9100 at ₹65 per m2. The ratio of the length and breadth of the floor is 7 : 5. The perimeter (in m) of the floor of the room is:

Options:

36

24

48

28.8

Correct Answer:

48

Explanation:

We know that,

Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

We have,

The cost of tiling the floor of a rectangular room = Rs. 9100 at Rs. 65 m2

The ratio of the length and breadth of rectangle = 7 : 5

Let the length and breadth of a rectangle be 7a and 5a respectively.

According to the question , Area of the floor of a rectangular room =

= \(\frac{9100}{65}\) m2 = 140 m2

Area of rectangle floor= (7a × 5a)

= 35a2 = 140

= a2 = 4

= a = 2

Perimeter of rectangle roomed floor = 2(7 × 2 + 5 × 2)

= 2(14 + 10) = 2 × 24 = 48 m
