Rajkumari Amrit Kaur was a prominent Indian freedom fighter (Gandhian), social reformer, and Health Minister in independent India. Amrit Kaur came from the royal family of Kapurthala, Punjab. She inherited Christianity from her mother Priscilla. She served as the Minister for Health from the early years of independent India (Nehru's first ministry after independence) until 1957.

Shyama Prasad Mukherjee- He was born in Calcutta in a Bengali Brahmin family. He emerged as a leader of Hindu Mahasabha, advocating for the interests of the Hindu community. With the support of the RSS, he founded the 'Bharatiya Jana Sangh', which eventually evolved into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He held contrasting views on India's policy of granting autonomy to Jammu & Kashmir. During the Jana Sangh's agitation against the government's Kashmir policy, he was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. He passed away in detention, a day after being provisionally diagnosed with a heart attack.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar (1891-1956) was a prominent leader of the anti-caste movement & played a pivotal role in the struggle for justice for the Dalits. He founded the Independent Labour Party, The Scheduled Castes Federation & envisioned the formation of the Republican Party of India. However, he resigned from his ministerial post in 1951 due to differences with the government over the Hindu Code Bill. In 1956, he renounced Hinduism and embraced Buddhism along with thousands of his followers.

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya joined The Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) in 1937, became a pracharak, & served as a full-time RSS worker since 1942. He was one of the founding members & the General Secretary of the Bharatiya Jan Sangh (1951- 67). He introduced the concept of ‘Integral Humanism’ in 1942 which followed the tradition of 'Advaita Vedanta’ (introduced by Adi Shankara).
