Question:

In an election between 2 parties A and B, A gets 37% of total votes cast and thus lost by 338 votes. The total number of casted votes is (assume none of the votes was declared invalid):

Options:

1300

1500

1200

1800

Correct Answer:

1300

Explanation:

Let the total no. of votes casted be 100x

A gets 37% of total votes i.e. = 37x

Then , B gets = 100x - 37x = 63x votes

Difference of votes of A and B = 63x - 37x = 26x

ATQ,

26x = 338

26x = 33800

 x = 13

100x =  1300 votes
