Question:

The following bar graph shows the number of males, number of females and total population of four different villages. Find the total number of children in the four villages.

Options:

990

940

860

760

Correct Answer:

860

Explanation:

Total population = No. of males + No. of females + No. of children

⇒ No. of children = Total population - No. of males - No. of females

                           No. of children

Village A     = 1500 - 820 - 400 = 280

Village B     = 1600 - 1040 - 320 = 240

Village C     = 1400 - 760 - 420 = 220

Village D     = 1000 - 580 - 300 = 120

Total no. of children = 280 + 240 + 220 + 120 = 860
