If a man receives 3% interest on One-fourth of his capital, 5% on two-third and 11% on the remaining, then the total percentage he receives on the whole amount is: |
4.5 5.5 5 5.2 |
5 |
Let assume the total amount that number through which we can easily find the one fourth part and two third part and then different percentage of the respective parts. So, let assume the total amount = Rs.1200 i) One fourth of the amount = 1200 × \(\frac{1}{4}\) = 300 ⇒ Interest @3% received = 300 × 3% = 9 ii) Two third of the amount = 1200 × \(\frac{2}{3}\) = 800 ⇒ Interest @5% received = 800 × 5% = 40 iii) Remaining amount = 1200 - 300 - 800 = 100 ⇒ Interest @11% received = 100 × 11% = 11 Now, Total interest received = 9 + 40 + 11 = 60 Total Interest perecetage = \(\frac{60}{1200}\) × 100 = 5% |
