Nataraja is a form of Dancing Shiva.

At Puri, Orissa, the principal deity was identified, by the twelfth century, as Jagannatha(literally, the lord of the world), a form of Vishnu.

Manikkavachakar, a devotee of Shiva composed beautiful devotional songs in Tamil.  There is also a twelfth-century bronze sculpture of Manikkavachakar.

The twelfth century witnessed the emergence of a new movement in Karnataka, led by a Brahmana named Basavanna who was a minister in the court of a Kalachuri ruler. His followers were known as Virashaivas (heroes of Shiva) or Lingayats (wearers of the linga).
