Question:

The present ages of A and B are in the ratio 9 : 10. The ratio of their ages 8 years from now will be 11 : 12. What will be the sum of their ages (in years) after 3 years from now?

Options:

84

82

76

78

Correct Answer:

82

Explanation:

Lets assume present age of A be 9x and age of B be 10x

Given, \(\frac{9x + 8}{10x + 8}\) = \(\frac{11}{12}\)

108x + 96 = 110x + 88

2x = 8

x = 4

Present age of A =9 × 4 = 36 years , Present age of B = 10 ×4 = 40 years

Sum of their ages 3 years hence = 36 + 3 + 40 + 3 = 82 years
