Question:

The pie chart given below shows the number of employees in 6 different companies. The total number of employees in all these 6 companies is 15840. The number of employees in a particular company is shown in terms of degrees with respect to the total number of employees in all thee 6 companies.

J1 = The total number of employees in P, Q, S, T, U

J2 = The difference between the total number of employees in P and Q and the total number of employees in T and U

What is the value of(J1 + J2)?

Options:

19404

6600

16302

12804

Correct Answer:

19404

Explanation:

J1 = The total number of employees in P, Q, S, T, U

In terms of degrees, P, Q, S, T, U constitute total (77° + 103° + 81° + 40° + 20°) = 321°

Thus, J1 = $\frac{321}{360}$ x 15840

Also, J2 = The difference between the total number of employees in P and Q and the total number of employees in T and U

In terms of degree, P + Q = 180° and  T + U = 60°

Thus, J2 = ($\frac{180}{360} - \frac{60}{360}$) x 15840

             = $\frac{120}{360}$ x 15840

J1 + J2 =  $\frac{321}{360}$ x 15840 + $\frac{120}{360}$ x 15840

            = $\frac{441}{360}$ x 15840 = 19404
