We know that,

Area of Square = Side²

We have,

Side of square = 5 cm

= Area of Square = 5²  = 25 cm²

= When the side is doubled,

= Side of a square = 2 × 5 = 10 cm

= Now, Area of Square = 10² = 100 cm²

The area of the square increases = 100 – 25 = 75 cm²

Number of times the area of the square increases = 25 × 3

= 3 times
