Which Indian state has embarked upon ‘Sujalam Sufalam Jal Sanchay Abhiyan’ for scientific water management?
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 4
The correct answer is Option (4) → Gujarat
The Sujalam Sufalam Jal Sanchay Abhiyan is a water conservation campaign run by the Government of Gujarat since 2018. Before the monsoon each year, lakes, check dams and canals are desilted and deepened so that they can hold more rainwater, and the excavated silt is carried away by farmers for their fields.
The drive is undertaken as a people’s movement with panchayats, NGOs and villagers taking part, and it has added a large storage capacity to the state’s water bodies while recharging groundwater.
