Time, Speed and Distance

Question:

A car covered 150 km in 5 hours. If it travels at one-third its usual speed, then how much more time will it take to cover the same distance?

Options:

14 hours

10 hours

12 hours

8 hours

Correct Answer:

10 hours

Explanation:

Speed = \(\frac{Distance }{Time}\)

= \(\frac{150}{5}\)

= 30 km/h

If it travels at one third of speed i.e. 10 km/h

Time = \(\frac{Distance }{Speed}\)

= \(\frac{150}{10}\)

= 15 hours

More time required to cover the same distance = 15 - 5 = 10 hours
