Question:

A boy is flying a kite whose height from the ground is 150 m.  When the boy sees the kite, the angle of elevation is 60°.  Find the length of string of the kite if there is no slake in the string.

Options:

100\(\frac{\sqrt {3}}{2}\)

200\(\sqrt {3}\)

\(\frac{150}{\sqrt {3}}\)

100\(\sqrt {3}\)

Correct Answer:

100\(\sqrt {3}\)

Explanation:

Let the height of the kite from the ground is AB and the length of the sting is AC.

In  ΔABC → Sin 60° = \(\frac{AB}{AC}\)

⇒ AC = \(\frac{AB}{Sin\;60°}\) = \(\frac{150}{\frac{\sqrt {3}}{2}}\) = 100\(\sqrt {3}\)
