Continuity and Differentiability

Question:

Which of the following is not the point of discontinuity of the function $f(x)=\frac{1+\cos 5 x}{1-\cos 4 x}$?

Options:

x = 0

$x=\frac{\pi}{2}$

$\pi$

$x=\frac{\pi}{4}$

Correct Answer:

$x=\frac{\pi}{4}$

Explanation:

f(x) is continuous except at the points where 1 – cos 4x = 0.

Thus x = 0, x = $\frac{\pi}{2}$  and  $x =\pi$ are point of discontinuity.

Hence (4) is the correct answers.
