According to the question

(x - 32) = x × (100 - x + 40)/100

= x - 32 = x × (140 - x)/100

= 100x - 3200 = 140x - x²

= x² - 40x - 3200 = 0

= x² - 80x + 40x - 3200 = 0

= x (x - 80) + 40 (x - 80) = 0

= (x - 80) (x + 40) = 0

So, x - 80 = 0

= x = 80
