Question:

A sells an article to B at a loss of \(\frac{1}{5}\). B sells it to C at a profit of 20%. If C sells it to D for Rs. 600 at a loss of \(\frac{1}{6}\) , then cost price of A is?

Options:

600

500

750

720

Correct Answer:

750

Explanation:

Let C.P of A = Rs. 100

C.P. of B = CP. of A ×\(\frac{4}{5}\) = Rs. 80

C.P. of C = C.P. of B ×\(\frac{6}{5}\) = Rs. 96

S.P. of C = C.P. of C ×\(\frac{5}{6}\) = Rs. 80 = Rs.600 (given)

80R = 600

1R = 7.5

Now CP (A) = 100 × 7.5 = Rs.750/-
