The length of one of the diagonals of a rhombus is 48 cm. If the side of the rhombus is 26 cm, then what is the area of the rhombus?

We have,

The diagonals of a rhombus = 48 cm

The side of the rhombus = 26 cm

We know that,

 d₁² + d₂² = 4a², (where d1 and d2 are the diagonals of rhombus and a is the side)

= 48² + d₂² = 4 × 26²

= d₂² = 2704 – 2304

= d₂ = 20

Now, the area of rhombus = \(\frac{1}{2}\) × d₁ × d₂

= \(\frac{1}{2}\) × 48 × 20 = 480cm²
