Four years ago, Shyam's age was $\frac{3}{4}$ times that of Ram. Four years hence, Shyam's age will be $\frac{5}{6}$ times that of Ram. What is the present age of Shyam ?

Ratio of ages of shyam and Ram = 3 : 4

Lets assume four years ago age of Shyam be 3x and age of Ram be 4x

Given, \(\frac{3x + 8}{4x + 8}\) = \(\frac{5}{6}\)

18x + 48 = 20x + 40

2x = 8

x = 4

Age of shyam 4 years ago = 3 × 4 = 12 years

Present age of Shyam = 12 + 4 = 16 years
