Case: Read the passage and answer accordingly An LCR circuit, also known as a resonant circuit, tuned circuit, or an RLC circuit, is an electrical circuit consisting of an inductor (L), capacitor (C) and resistor (R) connected in series or parallel. The LCR circuit analysis can be understood better in terms of phasors. A phasor is a rotating quantity. The quality factor is defined as the ratio of the voltage drop across the inductor or capacitor to that of applied voltage. It measures the sharpness of resonance of an LCR circuit. |
An inductance L having a resistance R connected to an AC with angular frequency ω. The quality factor of the inductance is; |
ω2L/R ωL/R ωR/L 1 |
ωL/R |
In a series RLC circuit, the quality factor (Q) measures sharpness of resonance. Quality factor is given by, Q = (ωr L/R). |
