Question:

Find the number of triangles and squares in the given figure.

Options:

40 triangles, 12 squares

36 triangles, 12 squares

44 triangles, 10 squares

14 triangles, 16 squares

Correct Answer:

44 triangles, 10 squares

Explanation:

The logic followed here is;

(let's keep in mind the base, means how many triangles are there in the base)

1+2= 03+03 (AOB) (AOC)

1+2= 03+03   (BOD) (COD)

1+2= 03+03 (MOL) (NOL)

1+2= 03+03   (PON) (MOP)

1+2= 03+03 (MCP) (PDN)

1+2= 03+03   (NBL) (LAM)

And, the other triangle are;

ADB, ADC, ABC, BCD, LNP, LMP, LMN, PMN

Now, we have 06+06+06+06+06+06+08= 44 triangles

---> Total number of squares;

The logic followed here is;

(whichever number it ends with multiply by 02)

Therefore, 04x02= 08 number of Squares.

And, ABCD & LMNP

Thus, 08+02= 10 Squares

Therefore, the total number of triangles in the above figure are 44 triangles & 10 squares.
