B.P. Mandal (1918-1982) was a Member of Parliament from Bihar during the periods 1967-1970 and 1977-1979. He chaired the Second Backward Classes Commission, which put forth recommendations advocating reservations for the Other Backward Classes. Mandal was also known for his affiliation with socialist ideals and his leadership in Bihar. Despite serving as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a brief span of one and a half months in 1968, he made a significant impact. His political journey led him to join the Janata Party in 1977. |
