Question:

In ΔABC, if G is the centroid and AD is a median with length 9 cm, then the length of AG is:

Options:

8 cm

5 cm

7 cm

6 cm

Correct Answer:

6 cm

Explanation:

As it is given that G is centroid

So, \(\frac{AG}{GD}\) = \(\frac{2}{1}\)

And AD = 9 cm

AD = AG + GD

( 2 + 1 )R = 9 cm

3R = 9

1R = 3

AG = 2R = 2 × 3 = 6 cm

So, Length of AG = 6 cm
