Question:

Find the time taken by a boat to travel 80 km with the current, if the speed of the boat in still water is 14 km/h and the speed of the current is 6 km/h ?

Options:

6 h

4.5 h

5 h

4 h

Correct Answer:

4 h

Explanation:

We know  that,

downstream = Speed of boat + Speed of stream

Given,

Speed of a boat in still water = 14 km/h

Distance covered = 80 km

Speed of the current = 6 km/h

Downstream speed = 14 + 6 = 20 km/h

Let the time taken be = t

\(\frac{80}{20}\)= t

= t = 4 hours
