Question:

The ratio of the age of a father and his son is 3 : 1. If the product of their ages is 432, then what is the sum of their ages?

Options:

36 years

48 years

60 years

54 years

Correct Answer:

48 years

Explanation:

ATQ,

Let the ratio be x

So,  age of father is 3x and age of son is x

Given, Product of their ages = (3x) × (x) = 432

                                         ⇒ 3x² = 432

                                         ⇒ x = 12

Age of father = 3×12 = 36

Age of son = 12

Sum of ages of the father and son = 36+12 = 48 years
