Question:

The marked price of a watch was ₹96,000. A man bought the same watch for ₹67,584 after getting two successive discounts. If the first discount was of 12%, what was the quantum of the second discount?

Options:

20%

15%

10%

25%

Correct Answer:

25%

Explanation:

Marked price of the article = 96000

First discount = 12%

Second discount = x%

So according to the question,

SP after 12% discount = 88% of the MP

SP after 12% discount = 88 × \(\frac{96000}{100}\) = 84480

Final selling price of the article = 67,584

Second discount = x% = ( 84480 - 67584 ) × \(\frac{100}{84480}\) = 25%
