If A lies between 45° and 540°, and sin A = 0.5, what is the value of A/3 in degrees ?

Options:

170°

175°

165°

160°

Correct Answer:

170°

Explanation:

sinA = 0.5

= \(\frac{1}{2}\)

{ we know, sin 30º = \(\frac{1}{2}\) }

So, A = 30º

but A lies b/w 45º and 540º.

So, sinA = sin ( 180º - 30º )

sinA = sin ( 150º )

Now,  \(\frac{A}{3}\)\ = (\frac{150º}{3}\) = 50º

50º is also not possible.

Now,

A = 360º + 50º

= 510º

Now, \(\frac{A}{3}\)\ = (\frac{510º}{3}\) = 170º
