Question:

Study the given pie chart and answer the question that follows.

Break-up (degree-wise) of the number of students in five schools (A, B, C, D and E) in a city.

Total number of students = 5200

If the ratio of the number of boys to that of girls in school B is 7 : 6 and the ratio of the number of boys to that of girls in school is 4 : 5, then what is the ratio of the number of boys in B to that of girls in D?

Options:

14 : 13

12 : 13

13 : 12

13 : 14

Correct Answer:

14 : 13

Explanation:

Number of boys in  school B = \(\frac{7}{13}\) ×  \(\frac{72}{360}\) × 5200

= 560

Number of girls in school D = \(\frac{5}{9}\) ×  \(\frac{64.8}{360}\) × 5200

= 520

Now , Number of boys in  school B  : Number of girls in school D

= 560  :  520

14   :   13
