Question:

The expenditure of a person is 60% more than his savings.  If his savings increases by 24% and expenditure decreases by 13% then his income increases by Rs.1280.  Find his total expenditure.

Options:

84000

64000

96000

40000

Correct Answer:

64000

Explanation:

Income  =  Expenditure + Savings

⇒ Exp. : Sav. = 160   :   100 = 8   :    5

ATQ,

⇒ (-13%) of 8R + (24%) of 5R = 1280

⇒ -(13 × 8) R + (24 × 5) R = 128000

⇒ 16 R = 128000

⇒ 1 R = 8000

Hence, Expenditure = 8R = 8 × 8000 = Rs.64000
