Kanshi Ram regarded political power as a master key to attaining social equality. He is credited with Dalit resurgence in north India. Kanshi Ram (1934-2006) was a driving force behind the empowerment of Bahujan communities and the visionary founder of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Departing from his central government position, he dedicated himself to social and political causes, establishing the BAMCEF, Dalit Shoshit Samaj Sangharsh Samiti (DS-4), and ultimately, the BSP in 1984. With keen political acumen, he recognized political authority as the pivotal catalyst for achieving social parity. His strategic insight contributed to the resurgence of Dalit representation, particularly in the northern Indian states. |
