Question:

The perimeter of an isosceles triangle is 80 cm. If the side that is not equal in length to any of the other two sides is 20 cm, find the length of each of the equal sides.

Options:

25 cm

20 cm

40 cm

30 cm

Correct Answer:

30 cm

Explanation:

In an isosceles triangle , 2 sides are equal and 1 side is different.

Perimeter of an isosceles triangle = 80 cm

Length of 1 different side = 20cm

So, Total length of 2 equal side = 80 - 20 = 60 cm

Length of 1 equal side out of 2 equal sides = \(\frac{60}{2}\) = 30 cm
