Question:

Study the given pie chart and answer the question that follows. The pie chart shows the distribution (degree wise) of the number of computers sold by a shopkeeper during five months.

By what percentage is the total number of computers sold in February and March more than the number of computers sold in April and May (correct to one decimal place)?

Options:

11.5%

9.9%

10.6%

8.8%

Correct Answer:

9.9%

Explanation:

Number of computers sold in February and March = \(\frac{99+45 }{360}\) × 5400

= \(\frac{144 }{360}\) × 5400

= 2160

Number of computers sold in April and May =  \(\frac{54+77 }{360}\) × 5400

= \(\frac{ 131 }{360}\) × 5400

= 1965

Required percentage = \(\frac{ 2160-1965 }{1965}\) × 100

= \(\frac{ 195 }{1965}\) × 100

= 9.9%
