Question:

The incomes of Ram and Shyam are in the ratio 5 : 6 and their expenditures are in the ratio 7 : 9. If their saving are Rs. 4000 and Rs. 3000 respectively, then what are their incomes?

Options:

Rs. 25000, Rs. 30000

Rs. 25000, Rs. 20000

Rs. 30000, Rs. 25000

Rs. 30000, Rs. 35000

Correct Answer:

Rs. 25000, Rs. 30000

Explanation:

Income - Saving = Expenditure

The income of Ram and Shyam = 5R & 6R

ATQ,

⇒ \(\frac{5R\;- \;4000}{6R \;- \;3000}\) = \(\frac{7}{9}\)

⇒ 45R - 36000 = 42R - 21000

⇒ 3R = 15000

⇒ 1R = 5000

Income of A = 5R = 5 × 5000 = 25000/-

Income of B = 6R = 6 × 5000 = 30000/-
