What is the difference between the average number of students that appeared for the scholarship examination from all the given colleges, and the average number of students that qualified from all the colleges together?

Options:

920

940

930

910

Correct Answer:

920

Explanation:

Average number of students  appeared for the scholarship exam from all  colleges

= \(\frac{2800+1800+3000+2000+2400 }{5}\)

= \(\frac{ 12000 }{5}\)

= 2400

Average number of students qualified for the scholarship exam from all  colleges

= \(\frac{1400+1000+1800+1600+1600 }{5}\)

= \(\frac{ 7400}{5}\)

= 1480

Required difference = 2400 - 1480

= 920
