A man travelled a distance of 35 km in 5 hours. He travelled partly on foot at the rate of 4 km/h and the rest on bicycle at the rate of 9 km/h. The distance travelled on foot is:

8 km

Correct Answer:

8 km

Explanation:

We know that,

Speed = \(\frac{Distance}{Time}\)

= \(\frac{35}{5}\)

= 7 km/h

By using allegation method,

According to question,

( 2 + 3 )R = 5 hours

1R = 1 hour

Time taken by man to travel on foot = 2 hours

Distance travelled on foot is = 4 x 2

= 8 km
