In the given figure, if DE BC, AD = 2.5 cm, DB = 3.5 cm and EC = 4.2 cm, then the measure of AC is:

7.2 cm

Explanation:

We know that ,

\(\frac{AD}{DB}\) = \(\frac{AE}{EC}\)

\(\frac{2.5}{3.5}\) = \(\frac{AE}{4.2}\)

\(\frac{5}{7}\) = \(\frac{AE}{4.2}\)

AE = \(\frac{5 × 4.2}{7}\)

= 3.0 cm

Now, AC = AE + EC

= 3 + 4.2

= 7.2 cm
