Question:

Study the given bar-graph and answer the question the follows.
The bar-graph shows the distance (in km) between two cities and speeds (in km/h) of a person to cover the respective distances.

What is the approximate average speed of the person while travelling from city A to city F?

Options:

28.55 km/h

23.91 km/h

21.78 km/h

19.47 km/h

Correct Answer:

21.78 km/h

Explanation:

Formula to be used here,

Average speed = \(\frac{Total Distance}{Total time}\)

⇒ Time(A-B) = \(\frac{80}{16}\) = 5 hrs,

⇒ Time(B-C) = \(\frac{120}{40}\) = 3 hrs,

⇒ Time(C-D) = \(\frac{90}{20}\) = 4.5 hrs,

⇒ Time(D-E) = \(\frac{60}{30}\) = 2 hrs,

⇒ Time(E-F) = \(\frac{42}{12}\) = 3.5 hrs,

⇒ Total distance = 80 + 120 + 90 + 60 + 42 = 392 Km.

⇒ Average speed = \(\frac{392}{18}\) = 21.78 Km/hr.
