Fredrick Winslow Taylor - Scientific Management. Taylor emerged as the ‘Father of Scientific Management’. He proposed scientific management as opposed to rule of thumb. F.W. Taylor is known for coinage of the term ‘Scientific Management’ in his article ‘The Principles of Scientific Management’ published in 1911. After being fired from Bethlehem Steel Company he wrote a book ‘Shop floor’ which sold well. He was selected to be the president of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) from 1906 to 1907. He was a professor at Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College founded in 1900.

Henri Fayol - Principles of Management. Henri Fayol (1841-1925) was a French management theorist. Based largely on his own experience, he developed his concept of administration. The 14 principles of management propounded by him were discussed in detail in his book published in 1917, ‘Administration industrielle et generale’. It was published in English as ‘General and Industrial Management’ in 1949 and is widely considered a foundational work in classical management theory. For his contribution he is also known as the ‘Father of General Management.

Abraham Maslow - Need Hierarchy Theory. Abraham Maslow, a well-known psychologist in a classic paper published in 1943, outlined the elements of an overall theory of motivation. His theory was based on human needs. He felt that within every human being, there exists a hierarchy of five needs. These are: Basic Physiological Needs, Safety/Security Needs, Affiliation/Belonging Needs, Esteem Needs, Self Actualisation Needs.

Philip Kotler - Marketing. Philip kotler has defined Marketing management as the art and science of choosing target markets and getting, keeping and growing customers through creating, delivering and communicating superior customer values of management. “Marketing takes a day to learn. Unfortunately, it takes time to master.” This line is said by "Philip Kotler".
