In a business, A and B gained some amount in a certain ratio, and B and C received the profit in the ratio as that of A and B. If A received 4900 and C received 1600. Find the share of B .

then, B  :  C  = x : y    ..... (ATQ)

Now, A : B : C = x² : xy : y² 

ATQ,

⇒ x² = 4900 ⇒  x = 70, and

⇒ y² = 1600 ⇒  y = 40

Therefore, B's share = xy = 70 × 40 = 2800
