Question:

A person uses a rectangular metallic sheet of 45m × 30m for making an open box. From each corner of the sheet he cut offs a square. If the length of one side of each of these squares is 10m, then what will be the volume of the box (in m3)?

Options:

5000

4500

7000

2500

Correct Answer:

2500

Explanation:

We know that,

Volume = l × b × h

We have,

Dimensions of a rectangular sheet = 45× 30

Length of side of square = 10 m

If a corner is cut off form each corner then we have to cut two corners from each sides, then

length = 45 - 2(10) = 45 -20  =25m

breadth  = 30 -2 (10) = 30 -20 = 10 m

height  = 10m

Volume = 25 × 10 × 10 = 2500 m3
