Arrange the following intermediaries in correct sequence as per a two-level channel of distribution:
A. Manufacturer
B. Wholesaler
C. Customer
D. Retailer
Choose the correct answer from the options given below:
Answer & explanation
Correct answer: option 3
The correct answer is Option (3) → A, B, D, C
(A) Manufacturer — first. The goods start their journey from the maker.
(B) Wholesaler — second. A two-level channel has two middlemen between the maker and the buyer, and the wholesaler is the first of them. He buys from the manufacturer in large lots and sells in smaller lots to retailers.
(D) Retailer — third. The second middleman buys from the wholesaler and sells to the final buyer in small quantities.
(C) Customer — last. The final user is the end of every channel. This channel is the one most used for goods such as soaps, oils, rice and sugar.
Note: The levels of the channel of distribution are not there in the latest NCERT textbook (2026-27). They were in the pre-rationalised NCERT, and hence this question has been picked from the pre-rationalised NCERT.
