In a race of 1200 m, Ram can beat Shyam by 200 m or by 20 sec. What must be the speed of Ram?

Distance = Speed × Time

According to question , 

Ram beats shyam by 200 m or 20 sec

That means shyam covers 200m distance in 20 sec

Speed of shyam = \(\frac{200}{20}\) = 10m/s

Also, in 1200m race ram beats shyam by 200m

This also means distance covered by ram = 1200m

Distance covered by shyam = 1000m

So, 1000 m  distance is covered by shyam with 10m/s

Time taken = \(\frac{1000}{10}\) sec

Then, Speed of ram in covering 1200m   = \(\frac{10}{1000}\) × 1200

= 12m/s

Hence, speed of  the ram is 12m/s .
