A solid cylinder of base radius 7 cm and height 11 cm is cut vertically in two equal halves. Find the sum of the total surface of the two pieces (in $cm^2$). (if $\pi=\frac{22}{7}$)

Explanation:

Total surface area of cylinder = 2πr(r+h)

Whole cylinder is cut into two pieces vertically ,

So, New height = \(\frac{11}{2}\) = 5.5 & radius remains same.

total area of both the new surfaces =  2 × 2 × \(\frac{22}{7}\)  × 7 (7+5.5) 

= 88 × 12.5

= 1100

The correct answer is option (4) : 1100
